Mystic Moon brings magic and mystery

Harvest Moon Farm & Orchard’s spooktacular adventure is here

Posted

Nestled in the rolling hills of North Salem, Harvest Moon Farm & Orchard has long been a go-to spot for autumn traditions. Families flock here for crisp apple picking, legendary cider donuts, and the farm’s own small-batch hard cider. As the closest apple orchard to New York City, it’s become a seasonal favorite for locals and day-trippers alike. But this fall, the beloved family-run farm is adding something brand new to its lineup—an experience that promises magic, wonder, and a little Halloween mischief.

From September 19 through November 1, Harvest Moon will debut Mystic Moon: A Spooktacular Halloween Experience, a fully immersive nighttime adventure through the woods. Forget haunted houses and jump scares—Mystic Moon is all about enchantment. Guests of all ages can wander a half-mile illuminated trail where towering 80-year-old oak trees glow with theatrical uplighting, and each bend reveals a new storybook scene.

Highlights include meeting Talon, the witty Owl Guardian of the forest, peeking inside the eccentric witch’s crooked cottage with its bubbling cauldron, spotting barnyard friends transformed into plump pumpkins, and marveling at the Kraken’s wrecked ship guarded by playful mermaids. A glowing enchanted forest and an 80-foot spider web suspended among the trees add to the sense of wonder. The journey takes about 40 minutes, with countless opportunities for photos along the way.

The magic doesn’t end at the trail. Visitors can warm up under a festive 40’ x 80’ tent, enjoying Harvest Moon’s signature hard cider, sweet cider for kids, and seasonal treats, plus themed merchandise to take a piece of the night home.

A First for Northern Westchester

“This is the kind of event our community has been waiting for,” says Corinne Covino, co-owner of Harvest Moon. “We wanted to create something magical and mysterious. It’s not about fright, it’s about wonder and the magic of the season, where families and friends can celebrate Halloween together. From the illuminated woods to our story-driven experience, Mystic Moon is the first of its kind in Westchester.”
