The Third Floor Gallery at Mahopac Public Library is featuring an exhibit of oil paintings by award-winning local artist Sandra Gorman from Oct. 4–28.

Gorman’s exhibit showcases a lifetime of oil paintings inspired by nature and her surroundings, including landscapes, still lifes and figurative works.

“Painting is a passion for me, and I enjoy experimenting and taking my art in new directions. I have studied with wonderful artists and have gained so much from their individual techniques and masterful instruction,” Gorman said.

A Mahopac resident, Gorman has been painting since childhood. Encouraged by early teachers who recognized her talent, she studied at the National Academy of Design and the Art Students League in New York City.

Her painterly approach is influenced by the Impressionists and their use of color. More than 30 of her works will be on display and available for purchase.

An artist’s reception will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, in the Third Floor Gallery at Mahopac Library. Visitors can meet the artist, view her collection and enjoy light refreshments.
