Dear Editor,
Based on my research as a citizen who takes self-governing and my votes seriously, I am voting for Mondaire Jones. Here’s why:
Former U.S. Representative Mondaire Jones is who has delivered millions of dollars in federal funding to communities in our district, not Mike Lawler. It was Jones who voted to pass the Infrastructure Bill in 2021 that has provided these funds. Lawler wasn’t even in Congress when the vote was taken. That bill was passed with overwhelming Democratic support and a sliver of Republican votes.
Mondaire Jones is fully in support of women’s reproductive rights, while Mike Lawler wants to leave decisions about a woman’s body up to the states, and we’ve seen how disastrous that has been for women’s health and safety, with near-death experiences, actual deaths and damage to future reproduction for some. We are headed into a dystopian world with Mike Lawler and his like in office.
Mondaire Jones voted for bills that funded the police when he was in Congress. Lawler voted against funding, from the infamous “Default on America Bill” to the GOP budget, both of which slashed funding on various law enforcement entities, including the Department of Justice’s COPS Hiring program, which provides hiring funds to state and local law enforcement across the country.
Mondaire Jones is a straight-talker; Lawler is a smooth talker. Jones has an independent outlook that puts people over party; Lawler is in lock-step with his party.
In 2022, redistricting cost Mondaire Jones his seat in Congress. That has not been good for our communities or for America. It’s time to return Mondaire to Congress so he can get back to getting things done for us in an honest and straightforward manner.
