Westchester County is asking residents to share their views on recycling and waste reduction. The Department of Environmental Facilities (DEF), working with consulting firm Barton & Loguidice, is conducting a waste reduction study that will help guide programs over the next decade.
The survey invites residents to comment on current programs—such as food scrap composting and textile recycling—and suggest areas where more resources should be directed. Westchester already recycles more than 50 percent of its waste each year, compared with a statewide average of 43 percent, and has reduced disposal by over 27 percent since 2005. County officials say the study will help identify the next steps to build on that progress.
How to take part: Complete the short online survey at arcg.is/GDn8u0. A public meeting will also be scheduled soon to give residents another opportunity to comment.
